On April 2, 2022, Assistant Minister Sheng Qiuping met with some members of the delegation accompanying Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to China in Tunxi, Anhui Province to exchange views on strengthening China-Thailand trade and economic cooperation.

Sheng said that China and Thailand enjoy a long history of friendly relations. In recent years, with the care and efforts of leaders on both sides, China-Thailand economic and trade relations have made major strides on all fronts. Facing the challenges posed by COVID-19, mutually-beneficial bilateral cooperation has shown resilience and vitality. China stands ready to work with Thailand to tap trade growth potential, promote the integrated development of industrial and supply chains, strengthen cooperation under multilateral and regional economic and trade frameworks, and facilitate the high-quality development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation to inject fresh impetus into the development of China-Thailand relations.

The Thai side spoke highly of the level of development of bilateral relations, thanked China for vigorously promoting Thailand-China economic, trade and investment cooperation, and expressed hopes that China would provide more customs clearance facilitation for Thai fruits to be exported to China, expand investment in Thailand and support high-tech cooperation between the two sides.

Sheng said the two sides can communicate regularly through the mechanism of the Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation to coordinate positions and solve practical problems. China stands ready to deepen investment cooperation with Thailand, share experience in industrial park development, and effectively promote the development of China-Thailand "Two Countries Twin Parks".
